Beginner's Guide To Lubricant

So, you’ve never tried a lubricant and you’re wondering what all the fuss is about? For all of the pleasure with none of the pain, personal lubricant is a must in any sex play! Not only does a lube ease the pain and make penetration easy, it also allows for optimum glide and silky smooth pleasure.

For those of you who have never experienced the joy of well-oiled sex play, or have simply never found your perfect match, we have put together this handy guide to help you choose the one that’s right for you. Here at UberKinky, we know how important it is that your sex life doesn’t dry up, so this guide offers the answers to those all important questions, and some helpful tips to get you started!

safety

Safety First!

Do you watch what you eat? Then you are more than likely to be just as concerned with what goes on your body, as in it! Almost 60% of what we apply to our skin ends up in the blood stream, that’s why it’s important to choose a lube that won’t cause any potential harm. As a general rule, we recommend that you try to avoid the following two ingredients where possible;

Parabens – not only have parabens been linked to cancer, they are also reported to reduce sperm count and cause reproductive issues. They can also trigger an allergic reaction or skin irritation.

Glycerin – glycerin can potentially increase the risk of acquiring a yeast infection (in women), or dry out the mucous membranes thereby increasing the risk of other infections.

Getting Started

So, you have chosen the new accompaniment to your sex play and it has arrived, but now what?

Well it’s important to make sure that you are completely at ease before you jump straight in and lather yourself up with the good stuff. Put a small amount of lube in between the thumb and finger, now rub together to check that you are happy with the texture. Keep rubbing it between the fingers to see how long it takes for the lube to be absorbed or dry out. This will give you some idea of how often, if at all, you will need to reapply throughout your play. Then take another small amount and rub it on the inside of your bottom lip (check that it is edible first), this will test sensitivity and whether or not you are likely to have an allergic reaction. If you are happy with everything, you are good to go!

BUT... Stay calm; there’s no rush! Don’t dive straight in and lavish lubricant all over those intimate areas. Put a generous amount in the hands and rub together to warm the lube to body temperature. Then you are ready to apply to the area in question. If you are using a toy, make sure you treat that to a liberal helping too. Be sure to use plenty; we don’t believe in no pain, no gain here at UberKinky!
