- Great for ground work
If I’m honest, I was a little sceptical about this rope, as it’s very cheap. But I’ve been very pleased with it. It comes tied in a hank, in a plastic bag, in a cardboard box (see below) and is a whopping 35 feet long (over 10 and a half metres).
Now the reason I personally like this rope is that it is so soft. It feels amazing. It’s soft against the skin, even when tied tightly. This is rope for soft play. It’s for beginners who want to experiment with tying each other up and want comfort over strength. I’m in this camp. I’d be fine with tying a hammock to a tree or binding bamboo together to build a temporary shelter but suspend another human being without putting them in an uncomfortable position? I wouldn’t know where to start. So I’m firmly in the “tie to the bed” stage at the moment, and this rope is just fine for that.
In fact, the only thing that I wasn’t too keen on was the way the ends were attached. As you can see from the photographs above and below, the ends of the rope are taped together and then they have foil attached around the tape. It’s ok, but a little sharp. I wasn’t keen on that so I removed it all (which was very easy).
Of course if you do this then the ends of the rope will fray immediately, so just tie a simple overhand knot on each end.
So other than the ends being a little sharp (which can be easily fixed), I had a lot of fun with this. Once you’ve been bound by this a few times you’ll still be comfortable (I really can’t describe just how soft this rope is), but you won’t be going anywhere. If you’re looking for rope to tie someone up with (but not suspend them from the ceiling), then this could be for you.
- Affordable and good
This rope is fab for all purposes of restraint use, especially if you are into Shibari rope work.
It is long, hard wearing but most of all is soft against the skin, even when tied tightly.
My only issue is the tape on the ends the rope, it is flimsy, so you may want to reinforce this.
With the rope, you receive 1 x blindfold.
This japanese silk rope is ideal for people who are looking into venturing into rope work.
